A Child's Garden of Verses prints are mostly black and white. In some of these prints, we have added a bit of color, mainly to draw attention to a particular detail.
The color art prints have wonderful hues, and could pass for art prints made today. Well, almost...Hair styles and clothes change, even for kids. "Seeking Shells and Seaweed" baby prints is a very good example of lovely colors, something we could easily envision in a baby's room. There are only a few color prints, but what we have are really detailed and lovely. They take you back to a simpler time and place.
Robert Louis Stevenson wrote A Child's Garden of Verses, a book holding a treasure of lovely poetry, of and about children and their pastimes. The wonderful artwork done in this 1919 edition is by illustrator Ruth Mary Hallock. Her artwork beautifully compliments the poetry of this book.
