The Children's Munchausen Prints

Children's Munchausen Cover.jpg

The Children's Munchausen prints are some of the most fanciful we have seen. But as with many old books, there was yellowing with age on the pages. That yellowing has been digitally cleaned and the color of the illustrations restored. The results are wonderful.  You have a carriage print from the eighteen hundreds sailing in the air, a wolf pulling a sled through a winter wood print, a horse at the bottom of the sea print, carrying a man across the ocean floor on a saddle with bridle included, and with very appropriate feet for doing this in the ocean.

Munchausen stories are very much like Paul Bunyan stories. They are very tall tales indeed. The prints in this book were taken from Munchausen tall tales, stories retold in a form more fitting for today's children. They are taken only from the very first sources of these stories, the English sources.

The vintage book The Children's Munchausen was printed in 1921 by Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston and New York, retold by John Martin and illustrated by Gordon Ross.
