If you don't know the story of Treasure Island, you should read the book. The well known artist Milo Winter is the illustrator of these beautifully rendered art prints, which totally enhance the story. After looking at just a few prints, you get sucked into wanting to know more! One favorite is Nearly, with Jim and all that gold...
The prints of the one-legged pirate, Long John Silver, are also especially good. Somehow he looks more in control, more sane than you would expect.
These are realistically done prints, with rich colors and some with great composition. Boys especially would enjoy the storyline, one with pirates and treasure, parrots and tall ships. If you ever read the story to a child, it is written from the viewpoint of Jim, the young boy in the prints, another good 'catch', especially for boys.
Treasure Island prints are from the wonderful book Treasure Island, written by the great Robert Louis Stevenson, and illustrated by artist Milo Winter. Rand, McNally and Company published this book, copyright 1916.
